Gold Rush

Sassy Controls 2,257 SQ. KM
One of District’s Biggest Landowners

The Newfoundland Gold Rush is heating up, triggered by spectacular results from New Found Gold’s (TSXV: NFG) Queensway Project and a general reinterpretation of the island’s potential to host multiple high-grade deposits in a geological setting that shares many similarities with the Goldfields region of Victoria, Australia.

Despite its rich mining history, Newfoundland has been astonishingly under-explored for gold. This is rapidly changing, however, with more than 30 companies now chasing the next big discovery in what’s emerging as a potential major Canadian “area play”. Attention is focused on a large southwest to northeast-trending region, featuring numerous parallel structures, known as the Central Newfoundland Gold Belt (CNGB) extending across much of the island.

Few resource companies are better positioned for discovery success in Newfoundland and the CNGB than Sassy Resources which now controls 2,257 sq. km of highly prospective terrain through subsidiary Gander Gold Corp. Nearly 90% of Sassy’s total land package comes from its strategic partnership with famous Canadian prospector Shawn Ryan and the affiliated GroundTruth team that has hit the ground running. Ryan was a “first-mover” in Newfoundland, turning his attention to this region in 2015 and securing the most prospective grassroots properties based on models that led him to great success in the Yukon more than a decade ago.

“We’ve got a stacked here,” Ryan says of Sassy’s 2,257 sq. km land package, “and we have a method to hunt. That’s the key. So we’re not wildcatting. We know where we’re going. Instead of hunting with a machine gun, it’s like we’re hunting with a sniper rifle.”

As Sassy brings its “Lively, Bold & Full of Spirit” approach to Newfoundland, get ready for plenty of exploration excitement in the weeks and months ahead!

The Prospector

Shawn Ryan

“People are going to be surprised by the number of discoveries in this Central Newfoundland Gold Belt. It’s the same beast from 1 end of the island to the other and in between. This is 1 big elephant. Structure is the key and let’s start running down that chute.

“It reminds me of the Hemlo discovery, that’s what this reminds me of, like when people just started believing this is happening.”

THE Prospector

Shawn Ryan

Shawn is one of Canada’s most dynamic and well-known prospectors who has turned his attention to Newfoundland in recent years, helping spark a new gold rush in this mining friendly jurisdiction. A global leader in his field, his prospecting and specialization on advance soil geochemical work led to the discovery a decade ago of millions of ounces of gold in the Yukon including the Golden Saddle and Arc deposits, and the Coffee Project (now owned by Newmont). This success was recognized with Shawn winning the 2011 PDAC Prospector-of-the-Year Award and the 2010 Spud Huestis Award (AME BC) for excellence in prospecting and mineral exploration.

Shawn continues to be an active participant with his technical teams, constantly improving efficiencies with his methodological and cutting-edge exploration techniques. During the last nine years (2012-2021), Shawn and the GroundTruth Exploration team have been working on developing new exploration techniques (Drones to Drills™) that have dramatically dropped exploration costs by roughly 60% to 70%.

Sassy Resources, now one of the largest landholders in the Central Newfoundland Gold Belt, is excited to be working with Shawn Ryan and the GroundTruth team to uncover the island’s next big gold discovery.
